We decided to try one of the other hotels in the City Square area for our last couple of nights in Malaysia.

The Haia Satu is currently undergoing a major renovation. Work was just about complete - rooms were ready (except they had forgot ton to take the plastic wrap off the base of the bed in our room) but still some workmen doing their thing in the reception area. No noise from this, just a bit of dust as you walked through.

As expected, everything was brand new - down to the tiles and fittings in the bathroom - and worked perfectly. A large screen TV had no cable channels, but being in JB had the Singapore as well as Malaysian ones.

The bed was extraordinarily comfortable, as were the pillows. No fridge or kettle, but filtered icy, room temperature or boiling water was available in a fountain in the corridor of each floor.

Location is great, on Meldrum Walk within walking distance of everything including the Immigration Checkpoint to get you to Singapore. WiFi was being installed, but I'm not sure if it will only be in the lobby or in the rooms too.

Even though the price will probably go up a little once the workmen have moved on, we'll definitely be staying here next time we fly into or out of Singapore.
